Caen rolls out its ticketing service on NFC phones

On June 17, in the presence of local authorities, “Caen la mer” opened its transport ticketing service on mobile phone.

The Twisto mobile application will now allow unfrequent travelers or subscribers, with an NFC phone:

– to purchase a fare product 24h/24, 7/7, directly from their mobile

– to validate in the buses and trams equipped with compatible NFC validators

– to check their balance of tickets or to follow their season ticket usage.

The Twisto application will also allow travelers to access all the necessary information while using the public transport network : real time bus and trams schedules, trips simulations, traffic alerts…

Open initially to holders of Orange Citizy NFC phones, the service will gradually be extended this fall to subscribers from SFR, Bouygues Telecom and NRJ Mobile.

Nextendis contributed significantly to this initiative by performing project management from the design phase to the commercial launch of the service, in close collaboration with Keolis Caen and Viacités, the transit authority of Caen la mer.

Stéphane Brunet, Mobility Projects Director, Keolis Projects and Consulting :

“The technical experience of Nextendis, its participation to many work-groups related to NFC, it’s knowledge of the Telecom Operators and industrials combined with the implementation of a rigorous methodology allowed us being reactive when confronted to the numerous challenges met while leading this project in short delays.

I warmly thank them for this valuable contribution.”
