Smart Ticketing Alliance updates its certification process for contactless ticketing smart cards

Smart Ticketing, Alliance, an alliance of the transport ticketing schemes in Europe, just published its new certification process for Public Transport (PT) objects according to CEN/TS 16794:2017 standard (Public transport – Communication between contactless readers and fare media – Part 1: Implementation requirements for ISO/IEC 14443).

It is now possible to request a STA certification for PT objects (PICCs) according to CEN/TS 16794:2017. This 2nd edition of the STA certification program supersedes the STA certification program 1.0 for PICCs available from July 2017.

The STA certification program 2.0 will be extended in the coming months to address PT readers certification according to CEN/TS 16794:2017.

This STA certification program 2.0 brings interoperability between NFC mobile devices and PT devices, by benefiting from the technical work achieved in the CEN/TS 16794:2017 version.

PICC certification requests can be submitted from now to CNA-PayCert. The certified products list is published on the website: http://cna-paycert-certification.eu/
