GlobalPlatform releases End to End Simplified Service Management Framework Transport

GlobalPlatform, in collaboration with STA (Smart Ticketing Association), recently published the ” End to End Simplified Service Management Framework Transport ” (available here)”. This work comes as a complement to the GlobalPlatform System Messaging Specification of Mobile-NFC Services 1.2 which define a standard way to manage NFC-based services in the Secure Element of a mobile device.

This GlobalPlatform document aims at facilitating the deployment of transport NFC services when using the UICC or the eSE of an NFC-enabled mobile phone. By suggesting the usage of preferred options and defining transport industry specific methods for application management, it will guarantee interoperability between PTOs (Public transport Organisation) platforms and MNOs (Mobile Network operator) platforms.

As a consequence, this initiative should help Public Transport Operators to digitalize their contactless physical cards on NFC mobile devices, with the promise of being able to deploy their applications in a seamless way on eligible UICCs and eSE from any MNO or OEM in their local market.
